This antique scent bottle is in very good preserved condition considering its age and delicate nature. The crystal glass body features intricate cut-glass ribbing and fan patterns with sharp facet edges, showing only minor age-appropriate surface wear. The sterling silver hinged cap is clearly hallmarked "STERLING" on the hinge flange and displays a beautifully detailed floral repoussé border surrounding a hand-engraved monogram ("EM" or "GM") on the top cartouche. The spring-loaded hinge functions smoothly, closing securely, and retains its original tiny chatelaine suspension loop. Inside the cap, the original inner protective cotton or wool batting pad remains intact. The original ground-glass stopper is present, complete with its faceted dauber tip, showing minor residue staining consistent with age and prior use. There are no major chips, cracks, or structural repairs to the glass body or silver hardware.
This exquisite antique scent bottle captures the romance and elegance of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Fashioned in the desirable curved horn or cornucopia silhouette, such flasks were quintessential accessories for fashionable women, designed either to be tucked securely into a chatelaine hook at the waist or carried discreetly in a velvet-lined evening reticule. The heavy-cut crystal body refracts light brilliantly, while the ornate sterling silver cap showcases classic floral repoussé work characteristic of turn-of-the-century silver craftsmanship. Complete with its original matching ground-glass stopper and internal stopper-securing pad, pieces retaining all of their original components are increasingly difficult to find, making this a wonderful acquisition for advanced vintage perfume bottle collectors and antique silver enthusiasts alike.
