Blue Ridge Southern Potteries in Erwin Tennessee produced many hand-painted items from 1918 to 1957. Probably most well-known for numerous lines of hand-painted dinnerware, several lines were created for specific holidays, including Christmas.
This plate has their "colonial edge" shape with the raised ribbed edge rim used on several lines of their dinnerware. This "Christmas Tree with Mistletoe" plate is about 10-1/4 inches in diameter and depicts presents under a Christmas tree in the center with sprigs of mistletoe on the upper right edge. While this design was used on many pieces, each one is unique because it was hand-painted.
It has the black ink-stamped under-glaze mark "BLU RIDGE HAND PAINTED UNDERGLAZE SOUTHERN POTTERIES, INC. MADE IN U.S.A. SH" on the bottom.
It is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, crazing, or utensil marks. It should be washed by hand to preserve its colorful hand-decorated design. It is ready to use, add to a collection, or display all on its own.
