Here we have a pretty cool old vintage 1980's Fender Japan 1962 RI Stratocaster. (ST-62 70). It’s a very early Fender Japan 1962 RI E-Serial Stratocaster built on 1st June 1986 at the legendary FujiGen plant (6-1-86 pencilled under the clear coat on neck heel). Fender’s guitars from this period were very well built and this is no exception. It has had a couple of modifications over the decades with a brass nut and 3 way switching installed. What I love most about this is the ageing - it’s well along the road to being a real vintage looker; all the plastics have yellowed and the metal hardware has taken on a nice light patina all over. It even has the ultimate badge of honour, the cigarette burn on under the E string on the headstock. There is a stck shawow on the back andgeneral playwear accrued over the decades. The Olympic White has aged into more of a deep yellow. It has a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard. This guitar looks awesome. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. No issues at all. No breaks or repairs. The neck plate has the Fender stamp from the FujiGen era. The steel saddles are stamped. Weight is 3.64kg. Complete with original period correct Fender Japan softcase, tremolo arm and original 1980's Japanese hangtag. If you are looking into buying an original ’62 RI Fender Japan Stratocaster you wont find a better vintage example than this. A great player and sound future investment.
