Rosemeade Pottery in Wahpeton ND made numerous hand-painted pottery shapes from 1940 to 1961.  Their many animal-shaped salt and peppers and figurines were very popular items in the area's souvenir shops.  Often depicting animals native to the area, they were very realistically shaped, detailed, and colored.

This miniature skunk figurine with its tail up is a great example of Rosemeade's attention to detail.  Examples of Rosemeade skunks in various sizes can be seen on page 116 of the reference book "Collector's Encyclopedia of Rosemeade Pottery Identification & Values" by Darlene Hurst Dommel.

The skunk is finished in a black glossy glaze with white glossy glaze stripes.  It is about 2-3/4 inches long, 3/4 inch tall, and 1/2 inch wide.

It is in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - and ready to add to a collection or display all on its own.
