Rare Antique 4.5” All Bisque Doll All Original Painted Eyes Fancy Stockings

A delightful and rare 4.5-inch antique all-bisque doll, all original, with painted eyes and beautifully detailed fancy stockings and shoes. Her original clothing adds greatly to her charm, preserving the appearance of this lovely little antique doll.

She has painted eyes, with the facial decoration applied directly to the bisque. Her fancy painted stockings and molded shoes are particularly appealing features, giving her a wonderfully dressed appearance even at this miniature scale.

Her arms and legs are jointed and movable, while her head is stationary. This fixed-head construction is an important distinction from swivel-neck examples.

Her original clothing remains in place, making her an especially appealing choice for collectors who appreciate dolls preserved with their early wardrobes. A lovely little display piece for an antique doll cabinet or miniature collection.

Age & Background

Estimated to date to approximately 1880–1910, spanning the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Small all-bisque dolls were produced in many variations, with differences in facial painting, jointing, and molded footwear. Elaborate stockings and shoes are among the details collectors particularly enjoy. Her specific maker has not been identified.

Measurements

Approximately 4.5 inches tall.

Condition

Upon inspection, I have not observed any damage to the exposed bisque. Her arms and legs move, and her head is stationary by design.

I have not completely undressed her because her original clothing is sewn on, so the covered portions of her body have not been fully inspected. Her condition description reflects the areas accessible for examination.

Please review all photographs carefully for the condition of her original clothing, painted details, and bisque, as the photographs form an important part of the description.

A rare and charming all-original antique doll, with lovely painted eyes and fancy stockings and shoes—a wonderful little survivor for the collector of miniature bisque dolls.
