Beautiful vintage freestanding wooden firescreen featuring a traditional floral needlepoint/tapestry panel behind glass.
The design has a central classical urn overflowing with roses and assorted flowers in muted shades of red, pink, purple, blue and green, surrounded by a coordinating floral border. The warm-toned wooden frame stands on shaped curved feet, giving it a lovely traditional country-house look.
The construction and aged backing give this plenty of vintage character. I can’t confidently date it from the photographs, so I wouldn’t assign it to a particular decade.
Approximate measurements:
Height of framed section: 23 inches Width: 18 inches Depth of each foot: approximately 9 inches
In very good condition for its age, with expected light signs of previous use to the wooden frame and backing. The needlework displays beautifully behind the glass. Please see photographs for the overall condition and construction.
A lovely decorative piece that would work equally well as a traditional firescreen or simply displayed as vintage textile art.
