A substantial Puritan exposition of the Beatitudes and the opening portion of Christ’s Sermon on the Mount. Jeremiah Burroughs considers the nature of true Christian blessedness and the spiritual character described in Matthew chapter 5.
The work contains a series of detailed sermons covering the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, peacemakers and those persecuted for righteousness’ sake.
This is the later Soli Deo Gloria hardcover reprint of the historic text. It is not an original seventeenth- or nineteenth-century printing.

CONDITION
Very Good overall. The brown cloth-covered boards are clean and well preserved, with bright and clearly legible gilt lettering to the spine.
One corner of the binding is noticeably bumped and creased, as clearly shown in the photographs. There is otherwise only minor general shelf wear.
The binding is firm and sound, with the boards and pages securely attached. The pages are clean and bright. No conspicuous inscriptions, highlighting or annotation have been observed. No dust jacket is present.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
A handsome and increasingly difficult-to-find edition of an important Puritan work, particularly suitable for ministers, theological students and collectors of Reformed and Puritan literature.
