Item Condition
[Guaranteed] Arrived in working condition from a development institute or research center.
We do not perform calibration, so we cannot guarantee the accuracy and precision of the unit within the calibration period.
Please purchase this item with the understanding that it is a used item.
Cosmetically there is one small scratch and some light dirt on the housing. All four module slots were checked internally: no bent or broken pins and no missing latches. The serial label is present and legible.
Operation Check
- Power: OK, POWER LED lights green and ACTIVE LED lights orange with the 12V AC adapter connected, and the unit operates normally once USB is connected
- Self-test: PASS, NI MAX chassis self-test reported success
- USB recognition: OK, recognized in NI MAX as a CompactDAQ chassis
- Module recognition: NI 9401 module installed in slot 4 was recognized (module was borrowed for testing and is NOT included)
- Test panel (slot 4, port 0): direction set to 00000000 (all outputs) changed the state to 11111111 (all HIGH), OK
- Note: during inspection NI MAX was reinstalled and the chassis briefly showed as not present (status code -88705). Reseating the USB cable and refreshing restored normal recognition, and it was stable and consistently recognized afterwards
- Display and controls: not applicable, this model has no display and no operation buttons
- Not verified: individual module recognition in slots 1, 2 and 3
- Not verified: firmware version (no version line shown in the NI MAX settings tab)
- Not verified: software options (no license list screen on the unit)
- Not verified: AC adapter input plug shape (the adapter uses a detachable input cord, which is not included)

Product Info
The NI cDAQ-9174 is a 4-slot USB CompactDAQ chassis used to build modular data acquisition and measurement systems with NI C Series modules. The chassis handles timing, synchronization and data transfer to a PC over USB, and provides four 32-bit general-purpose counters/timers plus multiple timing engines for mixed analog, digital and counter measurements.
It accepts an external DC supply (9-30V marked on the chassis) and is widely used in laboratory test benches, sensor and signal measurement setups, and production test stations with LabVIEW or other NI-DAQmx supported software.
C Series modules are not included with this listing; the modules needed for your measurement must be supplied separately.
