About Angel's Egg

Angel's Egg is a legendary original animated work created by Mamoru Oshii, known for GHOST IN THE SHELL, and Yoshitaka Amano, renowned worldwide for his artwork for the Final Fantasy series.

Originally released as an OVA in 1985, the film became highly regarded for its surreal imagery, distinctive visual style, and extraordinary atmosphere.

For its 40th anniversary, the original 35mm film was restored in 4K under the supervision of Mamoru Oshii. Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos versions were also produced.

In May 2025, Angel's Egg was selected for the Classics section of the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where it received a world-premiere screening ahead of its Japanese theatrical release.
