This is a beautifully produced reissue of a classic work that was originally published in 1884. Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel lived from 1850-1913. He was a major figure in the "Golden Age" of 19th century children's book illustration. His art captures children's vitality and his use of color is really marvelous!

I bought this book new in Paris and it is in very good condition. I take excellent care of my books in my smoke-free environment.

Notes on condition:

clear plastic jacket / wrap: clean, no marks or tears, some wrinkles at top & bottom of spine (see second-to-last photo)

cover: indigo cloth boards with gold stamped decoration/lettering and tipped in illustration on front board and gold stamped lettering on spine - no dents, bit of water(?) stain back bottom corner (see last photo)

interior pages: clean and crisp, no rips, some random spots of age discoloration (see third-to-last photo)

sewn binding: all pages secure
