After 1652 he became a priest in the diocese of Passau. Despite his profession as a priest, geography and surveying were his real calling. On behalf of the estates, Vischer created maps and drew many towns, castles and monasteries in the regions of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Styria, Moravia and Hungary.
