This is a large vase with a monotone and avant-garde pattern by Kozo Kawashima, a traditional Kyoto ware craftsman known as a partially blind potter.
It comes with a shared box, and the lid has "Vase" and "Kozo" written on it, and below that, a white seal impression, possibly "Kozo".
There is also an erased mark on the bottom right.
This is a large, heavy vase with the following approximate dimensions and weight.
Vase: height 10.83 inches, mouth diameter 2.09 inches, body diameter 11.81 inches, bottom diameter 4.17 inches.
Weight: 5.8 kg.
Shared box: 12.91 inches cubed.
Weight: 1.9 kg.
This item was inherited from my mother's tea ceremony teacher, and the shared box contains notes about when it was acquired, such as 1971, which is over 50 years ago.
The shared box shows dirt, discoloration, slight warping of the lid, and detached crossbars due to its 50-60 years of age.
While not hidden by the monotone color, the vase body shows little dirt, and there are almost no chips or cracks.
The vase was filled with about 1/3 water and left for approximately half a day, with no leakage or seepage observed.
