Authentic antique Robert Hitchcock mechanical kerosene oil lamp, manufactured in Watertown, New York, USA, dating to the late 19th century.
This unusual Victorian lamp features its distinctive mechanical-style metal body, elevated reservoir, ventilated circular base and original-style burner assembly. Importantly, this example now includes the removable burner gallery / shade-holder, recognizable by its large circular toothed rim and supporting wire framework.
The burner is clearly engraved around the collar with HITCHCOCK LAMP, WATERTOWN, NEW-YORK and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, providing excellent identification and collector appeal.
Constructed primarily from brass/copper-tone and other metal components, the lamp displays a beautiful untouched aged surface with deep patina, oxidation and wear consistent with an authentic Victorian lighting piece.
