2-IN-1 DOOR HINGE ROUTING JIG — 102 × 30 MM & 76 × 20 MM

Designed and made in Britain from rigid, durable glass-fibre-reinforced ABS (ABS-GF), helping the guide edges retain their shape for longer.

For routing hinge recesses in doors and existing timber frames. Includes:

• Main body for 102 × 30 mm hinge leaves.

• Removable insert for 76 × 20 mm hinge leaves.

• Removable fence for positioning against the door face.

HINGE COMPATIBILITY

Jig sizes refer to the individual recessed leaf, not the full open hinge. Check your hinge dimensions and corner shape.

Demonstrated with satin chrome plated (SCP), radius-corner ball-bearing hinges measuring (fully open hinge dimensions):

Also suitable for square-corner hinges of matching leaf dimensions—square off the routed corners using a corner chisel or standard wood chisel.

EXISTING DOOR FRAMES

Remove the fence and secure the jig directly to the frame using its two countersunk screw holes. This allows hinge recesses to be routed without removing the architrave.

BUILT-IN DEPTH-SETTING GUIDE

With the jig assembled on the door, the fence top sits exactly 3 mm below the door face. With the router switched off and disconnected, lower the cutter to touch the fence, then raise it slightly to avoid scoring it.

For a 2 mm recess, place a 1 mm packer on the fence when setting the depth, then remove it before routing. Match the final depth to your hinge thickness and test on an offcut first.

ROUTER CUTTER

Recommended and tested with the Trend C121BX1/4TC. Other suitable template cutters can be used; check cutter dimensions, cutting depth and correct bearing contact with the jig. Cutter not included.
