These stair rods are solid brass rather than plated steel, but originally had an antique brass finish which has started to tarnish and wear in places. Depending upon taste, they can be left with their existing, aged appearance, or polished back to clean, bright brass.
The set comprises 18 rods and their respective brackets. The rods are 78.9cm long and 12mm in diameter. The ball finials cannot be detached, and instead form an integral part of the rod. Each of the brackets is in two pieces, so that the heads of the fixing screws are concealed, and only a single, domed brass screw head remains visible.
