Beautiful vintage Lord Ganesha hand-carved wooden statue, depicting the elephant-headed Hindu deity Ganesh / Ganapati in a traditional standing form.
This substantial wood carving features Ganesha with his characteristic elephant head, long curved trunk, large ears and rounded belly. One hand is raised in a blessing gesture, while the opposite hand holds a small rounded object. An impressive radiating carved halo/backplate surrounds the head, giving the sculpture a strong temple and devotional-art appearance.
The figure wears an elaborately carved traditional dhoti-style garment, necklace/garland, arm ornaments and anklet details. Deeply carved folds throughout the lower garment create particularly attractive three-dimensional texture. Small traces of reddish pigment remain around the toes.
The dark brown aged surface has developed attractive wear and patina, highlighting the carved details and giving the sculpture excellent vintage character.
