This piece is a wonderful example of traditional Indian folk art, likely crafted by skilled artisans in Saharanpur, Northern India—a region world-famous for its generations of hereditary woodcarving mastery.

Unlike plain, purely functional kitchen tools, this set is an artisanal statement piece. 

It is intricately hand-chiseled from sustainable mango wood, a lighter tropical hardwood celebrated for its gorgeous golden undertones and warm, swirling grain patterns. 

The wide, flat border features deep relief carvings of traditional floral and oak leaf motifs. 

To make this intricate workmanship truly "pop," a subtle grey wash finish has been carefully applied to the recessed valleys, creating a striking contrast and a lovely, rustic vintage patina.
