This listing is for one vintage ceramic figurine made by Bradley Exclusives of Japan featuring Flipper the Dolphin. Flipper was the star of the incredibly popular American television show of the same name, which originally aired on NBC from 1964 to 1967. Created by Jack Cowden and Ricou Browning, the series followed the aquatic adventures of a highly intelligent bottlenose dolphin who acted as a companion and guardian to the Ricks family in the Florida Keys. Often referred to as an "aquatic Lassie," the hit show drove a massive surge in public interest regarding marine biology and led to a wide array of licensed merchandising, including decorative ceramic keepsakes like this one.
Good condition. No chips or cracks. This example still has the original foil label on its base. I do think there was originally something extending from its nose through to the base, as there are small manufacturing holes present in both spots. I do not have whatever this was and could not find a reference picture of Flipper complete with this original item. Please see the pictures for more information and to help with your decision.
