Original vintage Type D aircraft inspection lamp, marked 5A/2430, featuring a heavy spring clamp/grip, cylindrical protective wire cage and internal metal reflector.

Period Air Publication documentation identifies Stores Ref. 5A/2430 as “Lamp, Inspection, Type D.” It was designed as a portable electric inspection lamp for use in aircraft hangars and workshops during routine maintenance work. The documented specification used a 12-volt, 30-watt filament bulb.

The metal handle of this example retains the important 5A/2430 stores/reference marking, together with additional stamped symbols/letters. The rugged protective cage and clamp arrangement are characteristic of purpose-built maintenance lighting.

An excellent collectible for enthusiasts of RAF aviation equipment, aircraft maintenance tools, military workshop equipment, vintage inspection lamps and industrial lighting.

The original wiring is damaged/cut and incomplete, and the lamp is therefore sold untested and AS-IS for restoration or display.
