Original antique Salter No. 2 Improved Spring Balance, a classic English mechanical hanging weighing scale with an attractive aged brass case, large iron suspension ring and heavy curved weighing hook.

The face is clearly engraved “No. 2 – SALTER’S IMPROVED SPRING BALANCE – WARRANTED” and has a graduated scale reaching 50 lb. Similar Salter No. 2 examples are documented as 50-lb hanging spring balances.

The exposed pointer moves along the engraved graduated scale as weight is applied to the lower hook. The scale has been tested and is working.

A desirable piece of British industrial history for collectors of antique scales, vintage weighing equipment, brass instruments, old shop equipment, agricultural tools and mechanical collectibles.
