Sequential Circuits TOM Model 420 Vintage Digital Drum Machine W/ MIDI 1985

Released in 1985, the Sequential Circuits TOM Model 420 is a programmable digital drum machine and compact relative of the Sequential Drumtraks.

Its eight sampled sounds comprise bass drum, snare, two toms, open and closed hi-hats, crash cymbal and handclaps. Individual notes can be programmed with different volume, stereo position and one of 32 tuning levels, while sounds can also be reversed for more unusual percussion effects.

The TOM stores up to 100 patterns and 100 songs, with a standard capacity of approximately 2,300 notes. Patterns can be recorded in real time or edited step by step, with additional functions including Stack, Reframe, Improv and Human Factor for creating layered, rearranged or less mechanical rhythms.

A front-panel cartridge slot accepts optional TOM sound-expansion cartridges containing seven additional sounds. (Expansion cartridges are not included)

Connections include MIDI In and Out, stereo/mono audio outputs, headphones, clock and trigger connections, tape synchronisation and a programmable footswitch input. Up to four sounds can play simultaneously.

Condition:

• This is a used unit.



• This unit is in great physical condition. It shows some general wear from use and age. This includes some small nicks and marks. There is nothing major at all and overall this is a very nice Tom!

• This unit has has had a minor service and thorough test. It has no faults to note. It is 100% functional. 

• This unit ships with a generic 240V power supply. This means it is ready to plug and play within Australia, New Zealand and some other countries around the world.

• If your country uses 100-120V mains, you will need to use a step-up transformer to power on this unit, or you could get a professional / licensed technician to reconfigure the PSU internally.
