Octavo. xxv, [1], 457, [1], 21, [1] pp., plates. As issued, in full cloth. Wear to the spine ends and board edges; corners rubbed; foxing throughout, but generally, clean. Previous owner names on the front endpaper include J. B. Johnson and dated July 24, 1861. A previous owner has made a note that he was in the 40th PA, though we have been unable to confirm this. One leaf of plates with engravings on each side. A sizable portion of the book is given over to forms. There is a 21-page appendix wherein the Articles of War have been reprinted. An uncommon regulation manual issued as the Civil War was getting started.
