This is a visual and verbal snapshot of the city that was all too soon to be swept up in destruction. 

It's a beautifully produced book - the paper is very nice quality and has aged well. The flower vignette used for chapter headings is very appealing, as is the type font. The photos are remarkably well reproduced. Even the inked inscription dated December 25, 1903 adds cachet and charm. The tone of the writing is conversational, but very informative.

This was bought used & is in good condition. I take excellent care of my books in my smoke-free environment.

Notes on condition:

dust jacket: none (no idea if it was issued with one (?)

cover: gray cloth boards with blue, orange and dark gray stamped decoration and image of the Ferry Building and lettering on front board and spine - mostly clean with light discoloration from aging, no marks or dents 

interior pages: inked gift inscription front free end paper, otherwise, clean, moderate discoloration to frontispiece tissue guard, no marks or tears

sewn binding: all pages secure
