A radiant sculptural flower unfurls across this striking Carol Dauplaise brooch, its deeply veined petals, openwork details and sweeping double stem creating the graceful movement of a stylised orchid spray. Three creamy faux pearls form a softly luminous centre against the gleaming gold-tone finish.

Made in the United States during the 1980s, the brooch reflects Dauplaise’s flair for bold, nature-inspired costume jewellery. Carol Dauplaise worked for Miriam Haskell from 1959 until 1978 before establishing her namesake jewellery company in New York in 1978.

The dimensional flower is cast in gold-tone metal, with ridged texturing that accentuates the individual petals and contrasts with the smoother curved stems. It features a horizontal pin and safety catch, while the reverse bears the DAUPLAISE signature in block lettering on a raised rectangular cartouche.

Measuring 6 cm long by 5 cm across (2.36 x 1.97 inches), the brooch is in excellent condition.
