Greek Pete (2009) is Andrew Haigh's first feature: a docudrama shot over a year with London rent boys playing versions of themselves, centred on Pete, who is ambitious, charming and set on winning at the World Escort Awards. The cast improvise their own lives and the line between documentary and fiction is deliberately left unresolved. It won the Artistic Achievement Award at Outfest 2009 and a Special Jury Award at the Atlanta Film Festival. Haigh went on to make Weekend, 45 Years, HBO's Looking and All of Us Strangers, which makes his debut the hardest of his films to find.
