DETAILS:
Case: ‘Sea King’ model. Highly sophisticated and noticeably different with its distinctive yet simple case. Original & signed BULOVA. The all stainless steel case has been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. There is a dedication ‘Jerry’ 7-28-62 inscribed on the back. In general, the case looks great with only modest wear/scratches commensurate with the age of the watch. The case is NOT waterproof.
Crown: New, newly acquired ‘Bulova’ stock, signed. Excellent.
Dial: Complementing the distinctiveness of the case, the metallic dark grey dial is in its original condition showing age related wear and patina. The quarter hour positions are marked with truncated triangular markers with a central red accent; the remaining hour positions are slender rectangular markers. The ‘Bulova’ name and whale logo are in white whilst the minute chapter is in the form of red dots. The hour positions along with the hour and minute hands have not been relumed as they still glow well in the dark.
Hands: Hour, minute and sweep second hands are new old Bulova stock, steel, pitched 'Dauphine' style.
Movement: BULOVA Swiss manual wind movement. This is a fine classic 11AFC calibre with 17 jewels and is marked ‘M1’ for 1961. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and is running well, keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended.
Size: Round, measuring approx. 31.84mm in diameter excluding the lugs, Approx. 37.31mm including the lugs.
Band: A new 18mm black leather band with silver tone buckle has been fitted complementing the timepiece perfectly.
Box: This watch comes with its original hard case celluloid clamshell presentation box being so wonderful to have survived the years together.
The lid is in a light blue colour with an interesting ‘poured plastic’ iridescent effect with the easily recognisable globe decal in white/gold tone bordered with two gold tone dolphins. The base is also light blue incorporating a raised bold ‘Bulova’ name in gold tone on the opening lip to the box.
The clamshell lid opens as it should to reveal the sumptuous interior lined with plush navy blue velvet. The underside of the lid is marked ‘Bulova’ in large gold tone letters, below this is the cream silk liner with ‘Sea King’, ‘super thin’’, waterproof’, ‘17 jewels’ and ‘shock resistant’ in navy blue emboldened text. This is showing some age-related mottling. The hinge has been repaired at some point in the past, please take a moment to be sure you are happy with this.
The presentation box is a wonderful addition to this classic timepiece for a discerning collector.

This is a delightful example of a Bulova ‘Sea King’ watch from 1961 with its original presentation box. The watch has been restored to appeal once again – and as I’m sure you will agree, it certainly does. The all stainless steel case with original metallic finish dark grey dial make the watch highly desirable and unmistakable.

- This is a vintage manual wind watch with a movement from 1961, and as such it will not have the accuracy of a contemporary quartz movement therefore perfect time accuracy cannot be expected. If you want a watch to simply put on and go – then perhaps this is not the best choice you could make – however, if you want a period timepiece that you can admire and enjoy on each occasion you wear it, then this is a great item.
