Antique Copper and Brass Tea Kettle Chased and Hammered, Germany c. 1840s

Description: Beautiful and very interesting antique tea kettle made from hand-hammered pewter with brass feet and a wooden handle.

Came to me from Germany. The technology and the appearance are consistent with the first half of the 1800s, approximately the 1840s.  Nice ornate brass mounts. There is a pewterer's mark on the bottom, but it is very hard to read. It is without a doubt German, most likely from South Germany.

Very nicely preserved. The lid could be a replacement, but it fits. No breaks, no leakage. Some dings, unavoidable with such a soft metal as pewter.

It is 10" tall with the handle up, 9" overall length.
