This listing is for one vintage clear glass ashtray from the former Herring Hotel in Amarillo, Texas.
Built in 1926 by prominent rancher and civic leader Cornelius Taylor (C.T.) Herring, the Herring Hotel was a magnificent 14-story luxury destination located in the heart of downtown Amarillo. Designed to accommodate the massive influx of wealthy cattlemen and oil barons during the Texas Panhandle boom, the towering hotel featured opulent details, hundreds of guest rooms, and an expansive ornate lobby. For decades, it served as the premier gathering place for Amarillo's elite and hosted numerous celebrities and dignitaries. Though the building eventually ceased hotel operations and transitioned into office space before being completely vacated, the structure still stands today as a historic landmark in the city's skyline.
Good condition. There is a small flake chip on the rim along the bottom. The applied design shows some spots of wear as shown, with the majority intact. Please see the pictures for more information and to help with your decision.
This ashtray measures 3 7/8’’ long, 3 ½’’ wide, and 1’’ high.
