Lens has a built in follow focus adjustment knob - offering precision focus

The focus knob turns a FULL 2.5x - offering 800 degree rotation! (360+360+180) for refined fine-tuned focus ability !!

Plus One-touch PUSH PULL Zoom (same 'knob/dial' for 'one handed' Focus + Zoom operation + adjustment (VITAL)

This lens design remains the same size (thus more balanced) when zooming with no outside moving parts :) (unlike most (all?) 150-600 ie Sigma 150-600mm f5.6-6.7 (Sport) - which seems to double in size when zoomed to 600 which makes handling and balance awkward and inconsistent.

This has been safely securely stored and stashed away, wrapped in plastic zip lock bags and handfuls of silica DRY sachets for the past few years. Brought out for sale (vet visit yesterday has galvanised our need for sale (our 19.5 year old cat needs more TLC then this lens does)

(didnt want the accessories? - you could make an offer for less (ie -90 no teleconverters) Even the front cap has value to me if not you (came from a £2899 lens that fitted on its (lost) hood.

Condition

👉 NB: Please read and note:

There are no scratches, Optics are VIVID and ultra contrasty (green / blue / orange / gold  'sheen' to the L coatings)

Looking down through the lens, it appears to be clean, with some slight dusty (very very little for an old FD) and a few light inner specks (several elements down) which i have photographed

👉 There are a few tiny specks inside (3rd elements down?) 2 of them I have photographed (these are around 1mm - 2mm small, anything else is what id call 'miniscule' and would be impossible to photograph) There is a small hair inside on this element (also photographed)

It is around 44 years old, so considering this, the body is in good condition :)

👉 Missing zoom/ focus knob (without this it is not possible to turn the focus.) The protruding shaft where your [replacement] knob will attach has  squared side for it to clamp onto (ie flat surface for its securing bolt to fix to) and also has screw thread inside its shaft. 

(Before this went into dry storage, we had a small rubber knob that functioned but was not comfortable) We were planning to acquire a modern rubber grip knob (something from a follow focus unit or an old pro VCR / redundant editing suite (i fancied a sports car gear knob or old Bang & Olufsen dial off an obsolete bit of hifi / video ... (there are trillions of knobs out there to choose from! It does however deserve something better than you 'borrowing' your mother-in-laws cooker knob)

👉 The push pull zoom knob was a little stiff towards one end of the reach. 

👉 Lens has a silver metal plate on the rear of the follow focus / Zoom unit (where the knob will be fixed) - this has what appears to be a part 'arca clamp' edge (in that it is bevelled) and several screw holes (for mounting a focus/zoom control unit?) It moves along the zoom (Push/pull) with the zoom 

- We are unsure what this once coupled to (ie remote / follow focus). 

I can not see how this metal plate is attached to the shaft- but it is very secure

The zoom/focus unit is contained inside the lower 'box' region of the lens (ive opened to service a similar model, the FD 800mm f5.6 which shares this follow focus knob design and I suspect its the same mech / principle, in which case its very basic and wonderfully simple engineering inside, involving a  'drive shaft') I note that one of the 4 main securing screws that hold access to this lower section, one is missing. (it does not appear to be lose or affected by this)

👉NB it does not have the carry handle (once sat on top) (an ergonomic one could be 3D printed or an Arca plate/cheese board could perhaps be attached for mounting accessories liek a spotting scope, a monitor screen .... )

I must say, im reluctant to sell to non ebay UK users ......

1) as non-uk-sales incur an additional 3% ebay fee to me around £33

2)  its very very rare and precious, so international multi stop post (despite me being a pro wrapper) is a 'turn off' as i genuinely care about this lens that i have held and looked after it for so long!

...... However ...... if the potential International buyer contacts first to discus, and is willing to come and collect it (afert securing 1st on ebay) , then this is potentially, a possibility)

✈️ NB Bristol Airport is only 15 miles away (one could come and pick it up after securing on ebay 1st 

There is a direct bus from outside the airport to Bath 

Save yourself postage and save me the export paper work - you can declare this lens and its value to customs on your return, when you get back to your own country - which i have no doubt you will do - of course) Spend the day in the lovely City of Bath (one of only 2 UNESCO cities in the world)

The entire 'round trip' should be cheaper than the postage and 'import paperwork' and charges)
