Item Details:
Up for sale is an authentic, mid-century “stovepipe” or “pencil” Sunday golf bag manufactured by A.G. Spalding & Bros. Ltd. at their United Kingdom facility. The money-shot is a beautiful, crisp yellow and black “Made in England” studded medallion, this piece dates structurally to the late 1930s to mid-1940s.
The bag showcases exceptional early craftsmanship, including a heavy, molded cup leather base with an aluminum heel skid plate, a 3-way rolled leather club divider top, and a built-in padlock loop on the collar.
Condition Notes (Please Read Before Buying):
Canvas: The tan duck canvas body shows significant historical wear, including extensive fraying, tearing, and material separation along the main body. It is brittle and not recommended for active course use.
Leather & Hardware: The thick leather spine, handle, shoulder strap, and molded bottom are structural intact with excellent, rich patina. The metal studs, rivets, and skid plate show normal oxidation and wear.
This would be a great show piece in your Man Cave or in a traditional Golf Country Club museum...
