Vintage deflection magnetometer compass unit, approximately 11cm in diameter.

A fascinating piece of scientific apparatus, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century and originally used in physics laboratories for magnetic field experiments and measurements. Features a mirrored base, finely graduated quadrantal scale (0–90°) and sensitive magnetic needle.

The instrument is unmarked with no visible maker’s name. The needle moves freely and responds as expected when the instrument is moved, appearing to function correctly, although it has not been calibrated or tested for accuracy.

Condition is very good for its age, with light signs of use and storage wear, including some marks to the casing and minor spotting beneath the glass. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
