RARE. This is a genuine Zulu herb basket of the kind made for cultural purposes (not made to sell to tourists). It would be used to hold herbs for cooking or medicinal use in the home. It was finely woven of natural beige material with some darker brown material used for simple decorative accents. The lid fits well. The base of the container is concave. This measures approx 6.25" H x 5.5" W x 5.5" D. There is a deep patina of age; it likely dates from the mid century or earlier. Neat little basket with ethnographic value!
