The Vallejo True Metallic Metal range is a sophisticated 4-stage system, base light shade airbrush, in which each color is available in its respective variant. This is how metallic surfaces can be built up step by step: from the opaque base color (base) to targeted brightening (light) and realistic shadows (shade) to the airbrush version for larger areas.

The Obsidian Black Light variant is a lighter version of the base tone, specifically designed to create targeted highlights, reflections or points of light. It shares the same color tone (temperature and basic tone) as the base version, only with a higher luminosity value. This means your highlights remain tonally consistent without slipping into white.

To use light effectively, you should know how highlights and metallic transitions work. Light is usually used at points or on edges, for example on protruding surfaces or where light hits intensely. In addition, Light is often mixed with the Base version to create smooth transitions (gradients) without creating hard edges.  77101-77120 are the LIGHT colors

The BASE variant Obsidian Black is the heart of every True Metallic Metal color range. It delivers the metallic base tone with full coverage and an even, homogeneous finish. This version contains fine metallic pigments and an optimized binder, so it creates smooth layers without visible brush marks.  77121 - 77140 are the base colors
