ANTIQUE FRENCH 19TH EMILE PUIFORCAT* SERVING SPOON & FORK IN 950/1000 SILVER WITH VERMEIL FINISH.

Very elegant 950 silver serving pieces in Gothic inspiration .The spoon with flat edge as well as the position of the stamps on the back reminds the 18 th century .

 Handcarved neogothic pattern acanthus fringing.

Magnificent Art Nouveau monogram but difficult to read. Possibly FH

 

Two stamps : 

The Minerva 1 helmeted : after 1838 

The hallmark of master goldsmith Emile Puiforcat : EP surrounding a penknife active from 1858 to 1883.

 

Length : 25,5 Cm

Weight : 193 Gr

*Emile Puiforcat founded the dynasty in 1820, 18 rue Chapon in Paris with his brother Joseph-Marie.

 Louis-Victor Tabouret, master goldsmith and husband of Laure Puiforcat, adopted the name of his family-in-law (a rare occurrence) to perpetuate the Puiforcat line.

 Still active, the  Puiforcat House was bought in 1990 by HERMES
