Like New Appears unread. Clean, tight copy with sharp corners and no noticeable flaws. Dust jacket (if present) crisp and bright.
Very Good Light signs of handling or shelf wear. May have minor rubbing, a small crease, or a name inside, but overall a clean, solid copy.
Good Noticeable wear but still a fully usable reading copy. May include creases, moderate edge wear, small stains, or limited writing/highlighting. Any major issues will be noted.

Condition Description

Antique hardcover in good condition for its age. Decorative cloth boards show edge and corner wear, rubbing, discoloration, and wear at the spine ends. The front board remains visually striking, with ornate floral decoration and a gold-colored title panel. Page edges are heavily age-toned. Interior pages show scattered foxing and staining, including noticeable discoloration around the title page, but the text remains readable. Binding appears intact. No dust jacket. Antique 1890 edition of The Poetical Works of Oliver Wendell Holmes, published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company and printed by The Riverside Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

This illustrated collection brings together poetry spanning Holmes's career, including early poems, Songs in Many Keys, selections from the Breakfast-Table works, Civil War-era poems, memorial verses, and later pieces.

The book has an especially attractive late-19th-century decorative cloth binding, with elaborate floral and scrollwork designs in black and red, a gold-colored HOLMES title panel on the front, and matching decorative spine treatment.

The copyright page lists dates extending through 1890, and bibliographic records identify a Houghton, Mifflin / Riverside Press edition of The Poetical Works of Oliver Wendell Holmes published in 1890.
