VINTAGE CHINESE-STYLE REVERSE PAINTED GLASS — COURT MUSICIANS & PAGODA GARDEN

Offered is a striking vintage decorative reverse-painted glass artwork depicting an elegant Asian court scene with two traditionally dressed figures surrounded by classical garden architecture, stylized trees, rocks and pagodas.

The composition is particularly impressive against its deep black background, with extensive metallic-gold detailing and outlining throughout the figures, architecture and landscape. Rich shades of green, red, cream, turquoise and gold create a dramatic decorative presentation.

At the center, a seated woman plays a traditional Chinese-style stringed instrument while a standing companion appears alongside her, creating a scene inspired by classical Chinese music, garden and court imagery.

Unlike an ordinary paper print, the image presents as decorative painting on glass, giving the colors and metallic detailing their distinctive appearance when viewed through the front surface.

The artwork remains housed in its vintage gold-tone and textured red frame, which complements the black-and-gold composition beautifully.

An old retailer/framer label remains preserved on the reverse:

The Boroco Store was a historic Elgin home-decorating business, providing an interesting piece of local Illinois provenance to the framing/presentation. The Boroco label is presented as framing/retail history and is not represented as identifying the artist or original manufacturer of the artwork.
