A very attractive vintage C.W.S. walnut sewing or work box table, dating to around the 1960s.

Made by C.W.S. Ltd at the Cabinet Sundries Factory in Enfield, the piece retains its original manufacturer’s label beneath the lid.

It has a beautifully figured walnut veneered top with bookmatched grain and an attractive shaped edge. The table stands on elegant cabriole legs with pad feet, giving it a traditional Queen Anne-inspired appearance.

The hinged top opens to reveal a divided storage interior, including a larger fabric-lined compartment with decorative woven edging. Originally designed for sewing and needlework accessories, it would also work very well as a decorative occasional table, bedside table or useful storage piece.

The walnut has a lovely warm colour and particularly attractive figuring.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-related marks, scratches and general wear consistent with use. There is staining and wear to the original interior lining, as shown in the photographs.
