This is an overdrive pedal aimed at reproducing the sound of an overdriven tube amp. Unlike the heavily distorted sounds of many overdrives, this pedal produces a smooth overdrive with nice sustain, harmonics and overtones.
It adds grit and drive in a subtle musical way. The sound is basically similar to an old Ibanez Tube Screamer.
Overall, the overall sound can be virtually indistinguishable from a Tube Screamer with great mild to medium overdrive with the Tube Screamers pronounced bass cut.
