These old 'SHIMANO' stamped cranksets were the centre piece of all of the original Deore XT MTB groupsets, both 18 and 21 speed, fitted with a variety of evolving ring sets both eliptical (Biopace) and round (SG).
This is it in its original incarnation as part of Shimano's first post 'deer head' Deore XT groupset - M730 . Branded as Biopace2 the all aluminium chainring set is the most 'Eliptical' of the three Biopace variants that Shimano produced (Bio-Bio2 / BioHP / bioSG).
I've put this together from parts to full original 1986 factory spec.
The crankset is pre used, it had a lot of little light scratches on, so I decided to polish them up. Fortunately there was no heavy scratches or scuffs, so both arms should come up very nice! I'll up date the photos once ive finished working on the left hand crank (+ few little bits on the RH😬) erfections (Please check back)
The original 1986 XT Spec biopace chainrings are in excellent condition, they exhibit virtually no mechanical wear to their profiles,Just some 'chain shine' polished down anno on the teeths flanks. (Please check out the photos)
XT Spec - phat, flat & machined on the back!! means that the chainrings are thicker (width), the front faces are flat, and the shift ramps are machined into the backs (n/a) . They're also anodised differently to rest of the range in a super shiney 'nickel like' silver. The Main/big ring in XT spec has its size/spec stamped into the front face, unlike the rest of the range, Deore2,Mountain LX, Exage Mountain etc etc that have it printed on.
Both of the interface tapers and all of the fixing threads are in good condition.
OG bottom bracket axle fixing bolts included. (not currently pictured)
** FOR THE FULL SCREEN PRICE I'll include a pair of *NOS/NEW* Original M730 spec screw in metallic centre caps. (the others look the same but are made out of plastic!) **
Any questions (or sensible requests) AT ALL please just ask.
