Wonderful antique hotel silver serving bowl / porringer made by International Silver Co. for the historic Everglades Hotel in Miami, Florida.

Boxed “25” mark

This is an original piece of commercial hotel silverware produced for use at The Everglades, one of Miami’s landmark early luxury hotels. The Everglades opened in 1926, and the boxed “25” marking appears consistent with a circa-1925 production/date code, making this an especially interesting surviving piece of early Miami hotel history.

The piece has a classic footed bowl / porringer form with two decorative pierced handles. The pierced floral-style handles give it a much more decorative appearance than typical commercial hotel ware.

International Silver’s “Silver Soldered” hotel ware was heavy-duty silverplate designed specifically for commercial use in hotels, restaurants, railroads and similar establishments. It is NOT sterling silver.

• 5-1/2 inches wide including handles

• 2 inches tall

• Approximately 8.3 ounces / just over 1/2 pound

Condition:

This is an authentic antique hotel-service piece and shows age and use consistent with its history. There is substantial natural tarnish, patina, surface scratching and normal service wear throughout. I have intentionally left the aged appearance visible rather than aggressively polishing it. Please examine all photographs closely as they are an important part of the condition description.
