An interesting example purchased over 20 years ago from a collection of stamp boxes, snuff and trinket boxes. I believe the metal of which the box was made could possibly be tin or an alloy, I do see a small spot on the lid which appears to be brass underneath a silver colored wash. A detailed abstract design visible on the lid resembles floral forms as well as other shapes. Most likely produced by an individual artist, however, it is unsigned.  The spherical box measures 1 1/8” tall and 1 1/2” across. I do not see any damage or repairs, I will mention tiny bends in two spots on the lid mentioned for accuracy. I also noticed a tiny crack in the decoration on the lid primarily visible when the lid is off and held to light showing through the spot. As pictured on the inside, a small dark spot with a pinpoint spot of blue oxidation can be seen. All these issues would be expected with a very thin, fragile pillbox most likely created early in the 20th century. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description.
