This collectible silver plate spoon commemorates the sinking of the battleship Maine in the Havana Harbor on February 15, 1898.  By some beliefs, this destruction is thought to have been a catalyst for the start of the Spanish-American War.  The bowl of the spoon has a rendition of the Battleship Maine as well as the name and date of sinking.  The opposite end of the handle has an impression of Captain Silsbee. the back is plain other than the company of origin “Crown Silverplate Co”.  The spoon measures approximately 4 1/4” long.  It is in good use condition with no significant damage or repairs noted. I will mention extremely light scratching possible due to use, the silver plate appears intact with little to no wear. A wonderful commemorative spoon for numerous collections.
