VINTAGE STAR WARS — LAND OF THE JAWAS DISPLAY COLLECTION
Somewhere on Tatooine, 1978…
This listing started with a vintage Land of the Jawas playset and got slightly out of hand.
Rather than simply photograph everything individually against a blue background, I wanted to see whether the original toys could still create the little piece of Tatooine they were designed to create nearly 50 years ago.
So I built the scene shown in the photographs and video using the actual playset, vehicle, figures and accessories included in this sale.
Everything you see in the Tatooine display is included.
The collection comprises:
1979 Kenner Land of the Jawas playset, including the plastic desert base, cardboard Sandcrawler section and escape pod.
Vintage Landspeeder.
Nine vintage figures: R2-D2 R5-D4 C-3PO Luke Skywalker — yellow hair Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi — white hair Tusken Raider / Sand Person Three Jawas
The appropriate cloaks/robes and the six weapons/accessories shown in the photographs are also included.
PLAYSET & VEHICLE
The Land of the Jawas playset has been photographed extensively so that its condition can be assessed properly.
Importantly:
The escape pod hinge is fully intact.
The dial mechanism in the plastic playset base works correctly.
The cardboard Sandcrawler ramp/elevator mechanism works and moves easily up and down — this is the feature shown carrying R5-D4 in the display.
The Landspeeder gearbox mechanism works correctly, raising and lowering the wheels as intended.
Please examine all photographs carefully for the cosmetic condition of the individual components. This is a vintage collection with age-related wear rather than a modern reproduction or mint item.
FIGURES, CAPES & MARKINGS
The figures have deliberately been photographed both dressed and with their cloaks/capes removed so that buyers can inspect the figures and clothing separately.

WEAPONS & ACCESSORIES
I appreciate that determining the originality of loose vintage Star Wars accessories can be a subject in itself, so I have deliberately concentrated on showing rather than claiming.
All six accessories shown were photographed during a float test, in which all six floated.
A separate photograph shows the same accessories subjected to a white-LED light test, allowing buyers to see the differing light-transmission characteristics for themselves.
The Tusken Raider staff and both lightsabers also retain slight plastic flexibility.

THE DISPLAY
The cinematic photographs and video aren’t illustrations or photographs borrowed from elsewhere — they were made specifically for this listing using the actual items being sold.
The final behind-the-scenes photograph deliberately reveals the extremely sophisticated special-effects department involved: a small photographic booth, coloured paper, lighting and some decidedly low-budget engineering.
In other words, you can recreate the display yourself.
The cinematic presentation is simply intended to show what these toys can still do together.
Almost half a century later, put them together, lower the camera and add a little imagination…
and you’re back on Tatooine.
