Several original E39 radio layouts are compatible, as shown in the product images.
However, if your centre console matches the Not Compatible dashboard shown in the compatibility image, the E39X7A is not suitable.
Please compare your original dashboard before ordering.
â ď¸ Most Important: Check the Radio Power Connector
BMW E39 vehicles can use different factory wiring configurations.
Compatible power connectors:
- 17-pin connector without the 4 empty pin positions shown in Picture 1
- 40-pin connector
Not compatible:
- 17-pin connector with the 4 empty pin positions indicated in Picture 1
If your 17-pin connector has these four empty positions, the E39X7A is not suitable for installation.

If the connector behind your factory radio is the blue and white connector shown in the product image, you need to check the main radio power connector in the trunk before ordering.
If the trunk connector is:
- Compatible 17-pin without the four empty positions → E39X7A compatible + A0590 required
- 40-pin connector → E39X7A compatible + A0590 required
- 17-pin with the four empty positions shown in Picture 1 → Not compatible
The Eonon A0590 extension harness is sold separately.
The blue and white dashboard connector therefore does not by itself confirm compatibility — the trunk power connector must also be checked.

Harman Kardon Audio Support
Compatible E39 models equipped with the factory Harman Kardon audio system are supported.

7" IPS Touchscreen
The 7" 1024 × 600 IPS display brings touchscreen operation to the E39 without using an oversized floating-screen design.
It provides a clear interface for navigation, music, smartphone connectivity and Android apps while keeping proportions that suit the original centre console.
WiFi 6 + Bluetooth 5.4
Built-in WiFi 6 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, allowing the stereo to connect to a smartphone hotspot or another available Wi-Fi connection.
Bluetooth 5.4 supports compatible phone and wireless audio connections.
Please note: Built-in 4G LTE is not included. Mobile-network access requires a compatible external 4G dongle.
Built-In GPS Navigation
The integrated GPS receiver allows compatible navigation apps to run directly from the stereo.

Camera functionality depends on the original vehicle and camera configuration.
Split Screen & Wireless Screen Mirroring
Split-screen multitasking allows compatible functions such as navigation and music to remain visible together.
Wireless screen mirroring is also supported for compatible iOS and Android devices.
Note: Some DRM-protected streaming content may restrict screen mirroring.
AM/FM Radio & Optional DAB+
Use traditional AM/FM radio without relying on an internet connection.
For supported regions, DAB+ digital radio can be added with an optional compatible Eonon DAB+ module.

Before Ordering, Please Check
1. Confirm your vehicle is a compatible BMW E39 5 Series (1995–2003) or M5 (1996–2003).
2. Compare your factory dashboard with the compatible / incompatible examples shown.
3. Check your original radio power connector: compatible 17-pin or 40-pin configurations are supported.
4. A 17-pin connector with the four empty pin positions shown in Picture 1 is NOT compatible.
5. If you see the blue and white connector behind the dashboard, check the main power connector in the trunk. A compatible trunk-mounted 17-pin / 40-pin setup requires the separately sold A0590 extension harness.
For the E39X7A, checking both the dashboard layout and radio power connector before purchase is the most important step in confirming compatibility.
