Loose Cannon is proud to preserve the USA's military history via its unique DVD film collections. Using a combination of U.S. Dept. of Defense archive films, combat footage, and period newsreels of the time, each film features actual wartime footage and or first-person accounts from those that were there.

Mercury Program
Project Mercury was the first human spaceflight program of the United States, running from 1958 through 1963. An early highlight of the Space Race, its goal was to put a man into Earth orbit and return him safely, ideally before the Soviet Union.

The astronauts were collectively known as the "Mercury Seven", and each spacecraft was given a name ending with a "7" by its pilot.

This 2-DVD set contains a collection of historical films about the Mercury Program prepartion and 4 mission films. Below is a list of the footage on each disc:

This 1960 film documents the selection of the original seven astronauts for Project Mercury 27 min.

This film covers the extensive testing procedures applied to the Mercury spacecraft before rollout and pre-manned test flights. 15 min.

This film "The American in Orbit" recounts the orbital flight of Col. John H. Glenn, Jr. on February 20, 1962. 9 min

Covers the training, preparation, launching, and recovery of astronaut Alan B. Shepard, Jr. for the first Project Mercury sub-orbital flight. 28 min

Features Astronaut John Glen, shows the systems necessary for space travel. 30 min

- AURORA 7
Astronaut Scott Carpenter's flight in May of 1962. Carpenter had a five-hour mission to photograph the Earth. 29 min.

- FLIGHT OF FAITH 7
Faith 7 was launched May 15th, 1963 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The film follows astronaut Leroy Gordon Cooper Jr on USA's 4th manned orbital flight. 28 min.
