Item Description:

PEANUTS METAL LUNCHBOX AND METAL/GLASS THERMOS from King Seeley Thermos 1966.  This rare R-5 lunchkit is the first of five metal kits made by KST based on the comic strip and TV specials from Schultz’s Peanuts characters. This one is the orange-rimmed box with our intrepid WWI flying ace Snoopy in a dogfight with his nemesis the Red Baron – and Linus performing a concert while the rest of the wonderful Peanuts characters listen with smiles.  Everyone had a favorite Peanuts character, and KST freelance artist Nick LoBianco (of Get Smart and Yellow Submarine fame) had them all doing what you would expect on the box!  Nick’s propensity to use vertical side panels is used once again to great affect - with more wonderful comic cartoons from the Schultz’s pen wrapping around the box.  Charles Schultz was so impressed with Nick’s work on this box – he recruited him to be the licensed Peanuts artist.  Well done Nick!  

An investment-grade example of this key lunchkit.

Condition: Box and Thermos are complete and correct (including the original wire thermos holder). Box main front and rear panels are clean and glossy with very light rubbings.  Side panels are also very clean and glossy throughout.  Only very light shelf wear on rims - with no corner dents or dimples.  Metal hardware is nice and shiny.  Inside is very clean with minor rubbings and no previous owner's markings.  Box in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition.  Thermos lithos are clean and glossy throughout - with no dents or dimples - no rattles when shaken - with nice shiny bottom – also in overall strong Excellent Plus C-8.5 condition.
