Original hand-colored antique map of the Hawaiian Islands: "Carte des Iles Hawaïi pour servir au Voyage pittoresque autour du Monde par M. d'Urville, 1834" — from Dumont d'Urville's Voyage pittoresque autour du monde, engraved by Ambroise Tardieu (Pl. 11).
The map shows the entire archipelago — Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe and Hawaii — with hachured mountain ranges and hand-colored island outlines, plus a detailed inset of "Isle de Oahou" (Oahu).
Longitudes are measured west of the Paris meridian.
Measurements: approx. 14" x 10.5".
Condition: light age toning with a sharp vertical center fold where the map was bound in the volume; a faint brownish stain near Molokai; a tear was repaired using archival tape. Margins are wide with the plate mark visible. Please see photos.
