Original vintage National Panasonic R-441B 4-Band 8-Transistor Portable Shortwave Radio, manufactured in Japan by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., dating from the 1960s. This highly collectible Japanese world-band radio features MW plus three Short Wave bands (SW1, SW2 and SW3), a large analog tuning scale, main tuning control, separate fine-tuning control, off/volume control, high/low tone selector and AC/battery operation. The radio has an attractive black cabinet with silver-tone front trim, perforated metal speaker grille, original National Panasonic badge and substantial folding metal carrying handle. Particularly desirable is the survival of its original matching National Panasonic R-441B factory cardboard box, original operating instructions/manual, National Matsushita service literature, AC power cord/plug, additional connector/accessory, vintage protective plastic wrapping and packing materials. The combination of the original radio, matching box and period documentation makes this a particularly appealing example for collectors of vintage Panasonic electronics, Japanese transistor radios, shortwave receivers, world-band radios and mid-century audio equipment.
