Introduction:Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage/antique Ifugao Bulul (Rice idol) statue, hand-carved from a single piece of heavy native hardwood. Hailing from the mountainous Cordillera region of Luzon, Philippines, these figures traditionally serve as sacred guardians placed in granaries to protect rice harvests and ensure abundance.
Design & Features: This striking sculpture depicts a classical stylized seated figure resting with arms brought down towards the shins. It features a prominent, expressively carved oblong head with distinct elongated ears, a sharp nose ridge, and traditional minimalist facial incisions. The surface shows an incredible rustic texture showcasing prominent adze-cut carving facets, weathered grain structure, and a deep aged patina built up over decades.
Overall Condition: Good vintage/antique condition with significant character.
Natural Aging: Features a pronounced vertical age crack stretching along the torso and midsection (visible in photos), which is highly typical for dense native hardwoods exposed to climate shifts over time.
Wear: Minor surface scuffs, chips to the base edge, and natural weathering consistent with tribal use, display, and age. Solid structure with no loose fragments.
