Ornate antique Victorian desk inkwell and dip pen set, believed to date to the late 19th century.
The substantial gilt-bronze or cast-brass inkstand features a central pedestal-form inkwell with a hinged foliate lid, elaborate openwork scrolls, floral decoration and four mythical griffin or dragon figures that serve as rests for the included dip pen.
The antique dip pen has an intricately carved ivory-colored handle with a small colorful floral inset and a silver-tone metal nib assembly. The exact handle material has not been tested and is not guaranteed.
The inkwell’s removable porcelain or glass ink cup is missing. The interior metal holder displays oxidation and old ink residue. The hinged lid opens and closes properly.
Antique condition with naturally aged patina, oxidation, discoloration, surface wear and residue. The pen shows age-related wear, tarnish and discoloration. No maker’s mark was observed. The set has not been polished.
